Ed landed the director of the school as his teacher, Fausto, a highly dedicated professional whilst i was fortunate to be given Teresa as my teacher, a gesthalt therapist and yoga teacher.

Four hours every morning of intensive one-on-one spanish wasn't easy, and there was plenty of homework in the afternoon, but there were also early evening activities of a more fun nature. We took salsa and merengue dance classes with , learned how to make empanadas (typical pies containing cheese, meat or chicken) and pretty potent fruit cocktails with Fausto's wife and fellow teacher Martha.

On another occasion Martha gave a demonstration of a shamanic cleansing using bunches of aromatic herbs, an egg which was rubbed over the body and then cracked into a glass of water to examine the energy that had been absorbed through the shell, and a spiced alchoholic liquid that was put into the shaman's mouth and then sprayed over the body of the person being cleansed. We saw a video of a more intensive cleansing using a live guinea pig that was rubbed over the body and then dissected to examine the organs that would show any health problems being experienced by the recipient of the cleansing.

Hi June,
I am traveling to Ecuador next month and would like to go to a language school while I'm there.
I am wondering if you know of any private Spanish instructors in Cuenca who aren't part of a large organization? Somebody who I could perhaps meet up with at a cafe to take lessons.
Thanks!
